January 28, 2008

... and finally... my last post of the photos I've been shooting but neglecting to get posted in my Gestures365 project. We got a little more snow last night - just enough to leave the yellow grass peeking through.

This is Nathan. I haven't seen him since he was a teeny-tiny. When I saw him and his dad again this week, I swear I would not have recognized him - what a handsome young man he's going to be - and such a sweetheart! I hope to have more photos with Nate and his daddy soon.

Detail of a non-floral arrangement.

January 25, 2008

My sister and her husband have started a new business called Creative Addictions. They make hand-turned "distractions from the humdrum of every day". Those of us not in the know have called them pens, pencils, letter openers, bottle stoppers, etc.... I've been experimenting with taking photos of some of their products - this is one of their pens.

Sydney again - she picked her own outfit and got dressed all by herself. Of course, including her favorite pink hat....

January 23, 2008

In contrast with the "soft" girls I've been shooting lately this one struck me...

January 22, 2008

Adorable little Lily - she just keeps getting cuter and cuter! The look on her face - I love it! Who says the "twos" are terrible??

January 21, 2008

Another beautiful profile....

January 19, 2008

The beautiful lines and simplicity of the profile - made even more striking by the shadow behind....

January 18, 2008

Austin is a very serious little boy.... I'm never quite sure what's going on in his head.

January 17, 2008

This is Sydney again, in her favorite pink hat. She's always a willing participant for experimenting with the camera.

January 16, 2008

Two of my favorite little girls - only not so little anymore. The window behind them made this shot under-exposed, but it made the shapes stand out - I love their cheeks and chins....

January 15, 2008

Gonzo is my sister's dog. He recently got a short haircut, and feels a little self-conscious about it, but once you see this adorable little face, you forget the funny haircut.

January 14, 2008

One of Sydney's rare relatively serious moods. She's a very happy little girl - almost always giggling. She does have her moments of "twos", and this is the beginning of one of them.

January 13, 2008

I couldn't believe her eyes - and loved the combination of the "fur" on her coat, the twinkle in her eye, and the smirk on her face.

January 12, 2008

This is Shelby - sad because she couldn't come inside and play with the kids.

A stack of wooden blocks. My baby's an architectural prodigy, if you ask me. :-)

January 10, 2008

I just loved the look on her face - have you ever seen a more FAKE fake smile??

The recent snow in Boise has made for some beautiful not-often-seen images!

January 8, 2008

We had snow again today, and Sydney and had to make sure she was all bundled up - hat, snowsuit and all - before we went outside to play.

January 7, 2008

This is a bottle that came into my family through a friend - I'm not sure of the history, but I've always thought it was so beautiful.

January 3, 2008

This is one of my favorite "decorations" in my home - a larger scale version of the "Baby Parts" series I offer to clients. Pictures of my teeny-tiny's toes, nose, fingers, ear... all the important parts about the baby. :-) I just love looking at these every time I walk up the stairs, now that she's no longer a baby. It seems so long ago, and only yesterday that they were taken.

January 2, 2008

My Christmas tree is coming down today, so last night I stayed up until the neighbors turned out their yard light - which shines through the window behind the tree, and played with the camera in the dark for a while. What a quiet and peaceful way to spend the middle of the night! :-)

January 1, 2008

This is my daughter's first snowman - she calls him "Frosting No-Man". As you can see, he's putting up a valiant fight trying to survive the elements. Despite having lost his face and left arm, he's still standing. Brave little "no-man."
Just for reference - this one is his "birthday" - waving happily to the camera next to my daughter and husband.

Does anyone else get the idea that it's time for the Christmas videos to go back into the box for the year... maybe I've watched them one (or three) too many times??

Gestures 365

This is a project that several of my colleagues around the country are working on this year, and I'm throwing my hat into the ring for it, also.

The concept is very simple - take a post a picture a day for a full year. This will likely be in addition to my regular portrait and event work, and hopefully will facilitate more creativity in both areas. My original blog and website are still current and active.
